Special Guest: Bill Boyce

Born in Granada Hills, California, and raised by parents with a love of boating, travel, and adventure, these early experiences influenced Bill’s life by creating respect, and admiration of the water world around us.

Receiving a Bachelor’s Science/ Fisheries Degree from Humboldt State University, Bill started a 16-year career as a federal fisheries biologist, working four years for the U.S. Forest Service in Lake Tahoe, CA; Aspen, CO; Ketchikan, AK; and Portland, OR. The last 12 years of this career has been spent with the Inter American Tropical Tuna Commission at Scripps Institute of Oceanography in La Jolla, California, managing pelagic populations of tuna, billfish, sharks, and dolphin populations in the Eastern Tropical Pacific. During these offshore experiences, Bill constantly entered these warm, pristine waters to photograph, document and admire these amazing creatures, with the yearning to tell the world of their existence.

Bill’s photography began receiving international acclaim, and with this success he became a full-time photojournalist, doing international assignments for the most prominent sportfishing publications in the world. His fisheries science knowledge and diverse fishing experiences helped the industry instantly notice his writing style.

Bill’s photography progressed into him becoming an underwater TV cameraman, and for the next six years he traveled the world filming several documentary series, including the BBC BLUE PLANET Documentary.

On these filming expeditions, he worked with the world’s finest captains and crews in some of the world’s most famous fishing locations: Venezuela, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Jamaica, Bahamas, Canary Islands, Azores Islands, Cape Verde Islands off Africa, Mozambique, South Africa, Spain, Morocco, North Carolina, Cape Cod, Hawaii, Midway Island, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska and Mexico, to name a few.

In 2004 the Outdoor Channel hired Bill to produce/host a network fishing series for two seasons. In 2006 he formed his own Production Company, Anglers Digest, where he directed, produced and hosted a 26-episode series titled IGFA Anglers Digest. Bill then joined the World Fishing Network as an Executive Producer/Host for three more series: IGFA Saltwater Adventures; Bill Boyce’s Baja; and Bill Boyce’s Cali, leaving network TV to again Executive Produce and host two additional TELLY Award-winning series that by 2019 have reached over 200,000,000 homes internationally and have been the pinnacle of his TV success. To date, Bill has produced and hosted seven successful TV series, and has earned nine TELLY Awards, while always looking for the opportunity to earn more.
These diverse sportfishing, filming, scientific experiences, and amazing life journeys have solidified his contacts in the sportfishing world into powerful working relationships with hundreds of boating, fishing tackle, and travel board representatives.

Bill still prioritizes his fisheries’ conservation efforts as an IGFA Representative, an active Board of Trustee member for Wild Oceans, and the Coastal Conservation Association. Bill continues to stay in touch with his industry roots, giving several annual photography presentations to international fisheries symposiums, and to prominent fishing, boating, and diving clubs across America.
