Special Guest: Kirk Lynn
Kirk Lynn is an Environmental Scientist with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Pelagic Fisheries and Ecosystems Program. A native of Maryland, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Zoology from UC – Berkeley and a master’s degree in Biology from San Jose State University. He started his career with CDFW in 2005 working on recreational groundfish fishery issues, including catch projections for management. In 2010, he shifted to coastal pelagic species (CPS) such as sardine, anchovy, mackerel, and market squid. Kirk has focused on research on CPS with aerial surveys of coastal distributions of sardine and anchovy off California, as well as serving on the CPS Management Team of the Pacific Fishery Management Council, which provides management advice for federal management of CPS fisheries. He works out of the Southwest Fisheries Science Center in La Jolla, and can be reached at Kirk.Lynn@wildlife.ca.gov.
