The San Diego Anglers is a non-profit, family oriented, saltwater fishing club with over 300 members. The purpose of our club is to promote sportsmanship and the sport angling competition among club members. We are dedicated to the preservation and conservation of marine sportfishing. This club, which was established in January 1990, is made up of saltwater anglers of all ages. Some of the benefits of being a member of the San Diego Anglers include:

Our meetings are held on the 1st Wednesday of each month at the Bahia Hotel on Mission Bay. A no host bar with snacks is available at every meeting.
Guests are Welcome!
Be our guest at 2 of our meeting. Meet the members and enjoy the evenings. After that, we ask that you become a member.
Tournaments
Our very busy schedule includes at least 8 tournaments throughout the year. Our tournaments target almost all popular species available locally. These tournaments include San Diego and Mission Bay tournaments, inshore tournaments for Yellowtail, Bass, Bonito, Halibut, offshore for Tuna, Marlin, Albacore and Dorado. We even have a lobster tournament every winter! And last but not least, our annual San Diego Anglers Open Bay Bass Tournament hosted every January!
Charters
The Club schedules several charters a year to take advantage of some of the opportunities best suited to the sport-boat fleet. We have three twilight charters and one ¾ day charter every summer when the kids are out of school. We also do a 10 day trip on the Vagabond every October. We also do a 2 day tuna trip every summer. Club members frequently organize other fishing excursions to all points of the coast including a veteran group that goes to Baja a number of times throughout the year.
Newsletters and Website
Our monthly newsletter is available electronically and/or by mail and gives members information on upcoming club events as well as tournament results, the Weigh Master’s report, timely articles and many other items of interest to the active angler. The latest club information can also be obtained by visiting our website at www.SanDiegoAnglers.com.
Social Events
In addition to the many fishing oriented activities, there are a number of other opportunities for you and your family to socialize with your fishing friends. The San Diego Anglers plan many events, camp outs, Padre ball games and picnics for the whole family to enjoy!
Awards
Angler recognition is an important part of our club. Trophies and plaques for adults and juniors are awarded in many different categories. Hatpins are also awarded for a variety of outstanding caches throughout the year. Major annual awards are “Men’s All Around Anglers”, “Women’s All Around Anglers”, “Tournament Angler of the Year” in both adult and junior categories, and the “Homer Johnson Memorial Tournament Awards”.
Community Events
The San Diego Anglers sponsor a number of community events each year. They include: a yearly fishing trip for the children and families of the Muscular Dystrophy Association on the sportboat Vagabond, "Fishin n' the Pines", which is a kids and familiies free fishing day held every September at Lake Cuyamaca, "Day on the Bay" held every October in association with Seaforth Boat Rental for the Big Brothers and Sisters of America, the fishing pens every April at "Day at The Docks", in June we host the Fathers Day Fishing Derby in association with the Port of San Diego, and last but not least, we also host a Warriors on the Water whale watching excusion in February aboard the sportboat Eclipse, and each September we host a Warriors on the Water fishing charter were we have a fun day on the water with a group of wounded soldiers from the Balboa Naval Hospital. These guys in the hospital get "cabin fever" during their stay here in town and are very excited to be able to get a day outside of the hospital. They can only watch so much TV and play only so many video games before they get bored!! That's where the San Diego Anglers comes in. A good neighbor gives back to the community.
